Founded in 1888, Glamorgan became a first-class county in 1921 and remain Wales' only representative in the County Championship. Their first Championship title arrived in 1948.

At St Helen's in 1968, Garry Sobers became the first batter to hit six sixes in an over in first-class cricket, playing for Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan.
